Join OPAWL and Ohio Immigrant Alliance at the Columbus Arts Festival for “Migration is an Act of Love” on Sunday June 12 at 11 am at the Cultural Arts Center Stage. “Migration is an Act of Love” is a joint program from OPAWL-Building AAPI Feminist Leadership and the Ohio Immigrant Alliance (OHIA), staged exclusively at the 2022 Columbus Arts Festival. It combines elements of OPAWL’s “Love Has No Borders” multimedia storytelling project and “Far From Their Eyes: Ohio Migration Anthology, Volume I,” published by OHIA. Both projects provoke their audiences to make connections with people from different backgrounds other than their own, and understand that the decision to migrate is based on love. Featuring OPAWL Co-Director Jona Hilario; Poet, Writer and Storyteller Sara Abou Rashed and Social Worker, Organizer and Mauritanian Community Activist Houleye Thiam.
