Call to Action: Show up to Ensure Ohio Invests in AAPI Communities
We need your help to keep pushing forward the solutions uplifted in OPAWL’s recent statewide letter campaign to Governor DeWine and state lawmakers! Words are important, but words are not enough. We need concrete action, policies, and resources to support AAPI communities and prevent a tragedy like Atlanta and Indianapolis from happening here in Ohio.
Join OPAWL to learn about our recent advocacy work and how you can help put pressure on the Senate Finance Committee to demand they prioritize AAPI communities during the ongoing state budget process. The Ohio budget is a moral document. It demonstrates our priorities as a state. Over 350,000 of our fellow Ohioans are Asian, Asian American, or Pacific Islander, and we need your continued support to put pressure on Chair Matt Dolan and the Senate Finance Committee to finally include us in the state budget and invest in our safety, recovery and resilience!
Use our budget advocacy toolkit for step-by-step instructions on how to support these collective efforts through making phone calls, submitting testimony, and sharing on social media.
If you only have 1 or 2 minutes, you can call Senate Finance Chair Matt Dolan’s office at 614-466-8056 and ask him to:
- Support an amendment to create and fund the Ohio AAPI Commission and Office of AAPI Affairs;
- Stop the irresponsible and ineffective tax cuts to the wealthy and invest in our communities
Report back on how your call went in this Google form, and you can find sample scripts and more resources in our toolkit!
